Casting Lines & Crunchy Bites: A Morning at Lake McBride

There’s nothing quite like an early morning at Lake McBride—mist rising off the water, the crisp air whispering through the trees, and the soft plunk of a line cast into calm water. This past weekend, my husband Bryon and I snuck out for a peaceful fishing session before the day got busy. Just the two of us, our tackle box, and a pouch of our favorite freeze-dried snacks.
While we didn't haul in a monster, I did catch a feisty little bigmouth spotted bass. He wasn’t a trophy fish, but he put up a good fight and reminded me why I love these quiet mornings so much. There’s something meditative about the rhythm of fishing—especially when it's paired with a bit of crunch.
We snacked on some of our Aurora Bites and Cosmic Bananas while waiting for bites—simple, mess-free fuel perfect for the outdoors. That’s part of why we started Torus Coffee Company: to make snacks that fit into the kinds of adventures we love. Whether it’s fishing, hiking, or just hanging out under the open sky, our treats are made to travel and spark a little joy along the way.
Until then, stay curious, stay crunchy, stay cosmic. 🎣🌌
